Collecting and Using Data

Types of Data Collected

Diagnostic Data

Diagnostic Data is collected automatically when using the Service in the event of an application error.

Diagnostic Data may include information such as Your Device's Internet Protocol address (e.g. IP address).

When You access the Service by or through a mobile device, We may collect certain information automatically, including, but not limited to, the type of mobile device You use, the IP address of Your mobile device, Your mobile operating system, other diagnostic data.

We may also collect information that Your browser sends whenever You visit our Service or when You access the Service by or through a mobile device.

Heart Rate Data

You can optionally enable integration with your phone's health data and record your heart rate data along with your recorded rides. This is stored on your phone and not sent to us.

The heart rate data is saved in gpx files on your phone using the Garmin gpx extensions format.

When you delete a saved ride, the information is deleted and cannot be undone.

You can optionally share these gpx files.

Location Information Collected while Using the Application

While using Our Application, in order to provide features of Our Application, We may collect, with Your prior permission:

  • Information regarding your location

We use this information to provide features of Our Service, to improve and customize Our Service. The information may be sent to a Service Provider's server in order to provide you with maps.

You can enable or disable access to this information at any time, through Your Device settings.

Account Data

You can sign in with Google or Apple. When You do, We receive Your name, email address and profile picture. You can also add Your country.

Rides and routes You upload are stored with Your Account. Anyone with the link can see a ride or route You share as a link, and Your profile page if You make it public.

You can delete Your Account at any time from the account page on this website.

Friends

Friends lets You share rides and planned routes with people You have added as friends. Nothing is shared until You choose to share it, and You can stop sharing everything at any time in the Application's settings.

Friends see the whole route of a ride You share, with its distance, climb, duration and date. They don't see the ride's name, the time of day or any heart rate data. A planned route You share keeps its name.

To provide Friends, We store Your friend code, Your friends and friend requests, people You have blocked, likes, reports You send, Your time zone (to show the right dates) and whether You have a subscription. If You allow notifications, We also store a code that lets Google's Firebase service send them to Your Device.

We review reports, and may hide a ride or suspend an Account that breaks the rules.

Retention of Diagnostic Data

The Company will retain Diagnostic Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use Your Diagnostic to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations (for example, if we are required to retain your data to comply with applicable laws), resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies.

The Company will also retain Diagnostic Data for internal analysis purposes. Diagnostic Data is generally retained for a shorter period of time, except when this data is used to strengthen the security or to improve the functionality of Our Service.

Retention of Account Data

We keep Account Data, Friends data and the age check answer until You delete them or Your Account. Deleting Your Account deletes Your rides, routes, friendships and likes.

Children and Age

The Application is for people aged 13 and over. Friends is for people aged 18 and over.

We don't knowingly collect Personal Data from children under 13. If You think a child under 13 has given Us Personal Data, please email jethro@worldbikemap.com and We will delete it.

Age Check

Where the law requires it (for example in Texas), the Application asks Your app store whether You are 18 or over, using Apple's Declared Age Range or Google Play's Age Signals. Elsewhere, nothing is asked.

We receive only the answer: 18 or over, under 18, or that You chose not to share Your age. We don't receive Your date of birth. We store the answer with Your Account and use it only to decide whether You can use Friends.

Our Service may contain links to other websites that are not operated by Us. If You click on a third party link, You will be directed to that third party's site. We strongly advise You to review the Privacy Policy of every site You visit.

We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third party sites or services.
